Business, Education, paperNpixels delivers results best

PaperNpixels delivers the highest rates of return in business and in education.

In this digital age, the lure of Social Media’s glitter has often pushed aside good old fashioned paper and analog communications.  Today begins the #140edu State of Educationconference hosted by @jeffpulver and @Chrislehmann
This is the second year of the program and the second year I’ve attended because, more than ever, we are all students and need to embrace lifelong learning.
Forty year old information, book learning and professional development programs pale compared to the ability to learn new concepts from ‘connected educators’ who can reach out and share new knowledge immediately with the speed of Real Time web.

Being connected, educators have incredibly enlarged their resources in an ever smaller world.  Google hangout was deployed for the first panel, meaning we had speakers with the 300 of us in the auditorium and three additional panelists via the big screen coming in from three far flung locations across the country.

Participants:
Eric Sheninger ( @NMHS_Principal) - Principal of New Milford HS (NJ): NASSP National Digital Principal Award Winner (2012), Google Certified Teacher, ASCD Conference Scholar, Author, Speaker
Kyle Pace ( @kylepace) - District Instructional Technology Specialist and Google Certified Teacher. Presenter. Love to learn. Love to share. #EdcampKC organizer. Proud Dad.
Steven W. Anderson ( @web20classroom) - Educator, Speaker, Blogger, #Edchat Co-Creator, #140Conf Character, Edublogs Twitterer Of The Year, ASCD Emerging Leader.
Tom Whitby ( @tomwhitby) - Prof of Education. Founder: #Edchat, The EDU PLN Ning, Linkedin group Technology-Using Professor
Steve Anderson said “he cherishes the live connections he makes even more than the social media ones.” Why? Connectedness works best person to person. Not business to business, not institution to corporation.

@adambellow delivered a 280 slide, 5 video powerpoint presentation in 18 minutes beating last year’s record. His message, however hysterical the delivery, remains clear. Encourage thinking, collaborating experimenting. Use social media and iPads in the classroom? The debate is over. Just use them. Everyone, everywhere else already is.

Just yesterday, David Meerman Scott posted a blog where he spoke of how, in the face of hundreds of emails daily, one hand written thank you note, stands out and shows you really care.
There are few handshakes at the One Forty Conference but many hugs.
Reach out and touch someone’s soul. Think about them first and you’ll find the results you are looking for. Connect in many ways with many people and choose to be a lifelong learner.
Yours, from the #140edu conference
Keith
